Family Pictures by Jylare Smith Photography

It's been a few years since Jylare took our family pictures.  As usual she did an amazing job. I love how good she is with our kids. She makes it really fun for our kids. We even got Jane to crack a few smiles which is rare for her.

There were so many cue ones it was hard to pick a favorite. If you are wanting to get your family pictures done before the cold weather hits I highly recommend Jylare

My Favorite Cleaning Products from Honest Company

Lately I've been more aware of bringing natural products into my home.  Both of my kids have super sensitive skin so I've been using as many natural cleaning and laundry products as possible. I remember the first time Jett broke out in eczema I thought something was seriously wrong with him. My doctor recommended switching our laundry detergent to something without harsh chemicals and I instantly noticed a difference.  The same has been true with our cleaning supplies. That's why I was excited to try out the Honest Company cleaning products.

Floor Cleaner \\ I feel like I go through SO many floor cleaners and this one is by far my favorite. My floors are dark wood and they get really really dirty so I'm cleaning them constantly.  What I don't like about my past cleaners is that they leave streaks, they are too slippery or they leave my floor really shiny.  This cleaner doesn't do any of those things! It's honestly perfect. It gets my floors clean without any of the residue other cleaners leave.

Multi-surface Cleaner // I was hoping that this would be a good cleaner for my stainless steel dining table. It works pretty well but it still left some streaking. I've actually found that just water works best for my table.  But I love this cleaner for my countertops! It's also been great for my stovetop, sink and microwave.  It smells amazing and cleans really well.

Bathroom Cleaner // My bathrooms get trashed thanks to my 5 year old boy.  I really wanted a natural cleaner for my bathrooms because the surfaces in my bathrooms get used and touched so much. It may sound weird but using cleaning products that smell good kinda makes cleaning enjoyable. Kinda like a trip to the spa... okay not really but kinda...

I'm really excited to have found these great products and I'll definitely be ordering more in the future. And on another note we've been using their shampoo and conditioner for Jett and Jane and I'll never use anything else again! They are really gentle and they smell amazing!

Have you tried the Honest Co. products? Which ones are your favorite?

Blue & Gray Living Room Planning

This week I am revealing a really pretty room Erin and I just finished up. But before I do I wanted to give you the back story on the space. We went out to a new client's house in the Spring. She wanted help with her entryway and living room.

The house was not "her style" at all. She showed us these images of homes that she loved.

She admitted to liking mostly blues and neutrals. Obviously this room needed to be brightened and lightened quite a bit! The first thing we needed to do was lighten up the walls. We sent her these paint options for the walls:

She chose Bone by Jeff Lewis. Then Erin and I got to work coming up with a design plan for the space. Here is the first board we sent over.

We were also sourcing new pillows for the adjacent family room which is what the bottom row of fabrics were for. For the sofa our budget was around $1,000. I had found this sofa at Down East Outfitters that was just around that price.

Some of the other options in that price range were:

Our budget for a loveseat for the space was $700. These were some of the options we liked:

Ultimately she wasn't in love with any of the options we sent so we decided to up the budget a bit to get something that was more perfect for the space.

For the coffee table we wanted to bring in a wooden piece. We originally chose this coffee table...

But then we decided it would be too big for the space so we went with this one instead:

On the south wall we were doing the loveseat and we wanted some large art above it to fill up the wall. These were are our favorite choices:

Our clients weren't in love with the bird art. They wanted a landscape so we sourced a few but then our client offered this pretty piece that was her mother in law's.

We just had it reframed and it worked perfectly above the loveseat!

The room felt pretty traditional so we wanted  a graphic rug to modernize the space a bit. We liked these options:

She decided all the options were a bit too contemporary for her so we started looking for more traditional options.

We thought the Gobi Wool rug would be a good option. We liked how much blue it brought into the space.

We also liked the Safavieh Vintage Turquoise rug

We ended up finding this Damara Rug and she liked it the best!

I'll be posting the reveal tomorrow! Here is a little sneak peak....
